What campsite restrictions should we expect?
Each campsite / rental is for ONE family - one RV or tent - one vehicle, per site. Extra charge for extra cars & trailers brought with. Maximum of 6 persons usually allowed at one site. An additional 2 - 3 person tent on an RV site may be used on specific sites only and with prior notice to the Registration Office (there is a charge.) Rentals have a maximum number of people allowed in the different types of units due to fire codes. A responsible adult is required for all campsite reservations and must be present during stay. Should the occasion arise, we reserve the right to substitute a site of equal hookup. If you are a big rig RV towing a big trailer (car or otherwise), you must be on a pull thru site.

How about a tent site?
One immediate family (2 adults & children), one car (maximum 6 persons.) One large (6 man size tent or larger) OR two smaller size tents (5 man size or smaller) allowed per site. If the site has a tent pad then the tent must be placed on this pad only. Sorry, no pets allowed at tent sites.

Can I choose a site when I get there?
This depends on multiple factors: such as availability, length of stay, site type and reservations already on a site. We will try our best to honor most requests but we cannot guarantee a specific site as things can change requiring us to move camper sites and still meet your needs. Site numbers are not given out until arrival, just for these reasons.

Can I put up a table canopy or screen room?
A screen room is allowed provided it does not interfere with your neighbors, trails, utilities, etc., and is no larger than 12' x 12'. Groups may obtain permission for a larger canopy or screen room from the Kampground prior to arrival.

Can I put a tent up by my RV?
RVs with a tent (for immediate dependent small children - not an additional family) are limited to a single 2-3 person size tent (no larger than 7 x 7 x 52" high) placed next to the RV only. No oversized tents will be allowed - these must go on a separate regular tent site. There is a $5 fee per night charge for a tent along with an RV on a campsite.

What can I expect at a Kabin / Park Model?
All sites have an outdoor picnic table, fire ring and charcoal or gas grill. Cooking is not allowed inside kabins. There are no bathrooms in our kabins. Bathhouses are open 24 hours, except for brief cleaning times (posted). Remember, you are camping! These camping unis are subject to the great outdoors just like all campsites are. Sorry, these sites are not suitable for large screen rooms or dining canopies. NO PETS OR SMOKING ALLOWED IN RENTAL UNITS. These units are not suited for late night check-ins. You must check into units before store closes to receive a key. You are responsible for the unit if must be left open for your late arrival.

  • KABINS: You must bring your own bedding / sleeping bags, pillows, personal items, towels, etc.
  • PARK MODELS: Linen packs / pillows are included. We do not provide daily housekeeping services. New linen packs will be provided every 4 days of your stay. You will still need to bring towels and other personal items.
  • We left a little early, can we check in?
Our check-in time STARTS AFTER 3pm. We may not be able to accommodate arrivals before 3pm. If we can accommodate you, an extra charge will be required. Sorry, we do not have a waiting area for early arrivals and only registered guests may use our facility. We need time between check-out and check-in to clean campsites, and do camp maintenance.

    How late can I arrive?
No one likes late, noisy arrivals. During the Summer, the office / store is open until at least 9pm; 10pm on Friday and Saturday. Arrivals must be planned to arrive before 11pm. First we HIGHLY recommend that you arrive before dark and preferably before the store closes. Our campground is in the country, and is dark, which is preferred by most campers. You can easily get lost when not familiar with the camp and have difficulty getting into your site - thus causing a lot of unnecessary noise. Call if you are unexpectedly late for instructions.

Can I just drive in and get a spot?
Reservations are always suggested. If you do not have a reservation and it is after office hours, a night registration desk is provided. At the night desk, complete a night registration envelope fully, include your payment and / or credit card numbers asked for - then drop this in the DROP BOX next to the door. Change will be provided the next morning. This MUST be done before occupying a campsite (State Law). Pick a site from those listed as "open for the night" (no, you cannot drive around and park anywhere.) See you in the morning!

    When is Check-out?
Check-out is BY 11:30am. Late checkouts may be available in Spring or Fall time period only, with additional charge. You must check at the office ahead of time to see if your site will allow this. Full day fee incurs at 3pm. Sorry, no late checkouts for any Rentals, since we need time to clean / inspect the units before a new camper arrives. No, you cannot checkout of your site and go and sit by the pool. Check-out means leaving the grounds.

    Do you have Wi-Fi?
Yes, it is free for our registered campers only. One code number will be given to a campsite (given at check-in) for one computer. Most areas of the campground are served. Due to multiple factors: wide area, your equipment limitations, trees, weather, your neighbors' air card, etc., this free service is not guaranteed. Air waves are funny like that!

    Can I bring my pets?
Many of our campers wish to bring their pets along with them. Having your pet with you while camping bring with it a lot of responsibility. To ensure everyone's safety and comfort, pet owners must observe the following rules:

    • We do not accept the following breeds: Rottweilers, Doberman Pinschers, Pit Bulls, or mixed breeds of these animals or any pet that is aggressive;
    • Pets must be kept under control at all times. This means your 6 year old cannot walk your Great Dane in the campground. Pets must be kept on a leash no more than 6' in length.
    • You must carry your clean up bag, pooper scooper with you at all times and clean up after your pet. Pet walk areas are located throughout the campground.
    • You cannot leave your pet alone. Your pet may be quiet when you are here, but shortly after you leave, it becomes lonely and is likely to share that loneliness with your neighbors. Excessive barking dogs will mean you need a new campground. Hershey Park has an on-site kennel (call 1.800.HERSHEY for more information) or click here for other area kennels.
    • Pennsylvania State Law holds you directly responsible for your pet and requires you to maintain control of your pet at all times.
    • Sorry, no pets allowed in tent sites or rentals.
    • Anyone found violating these pet rules will be asked to leave, without refund!
    • Your visitors may not bring their pets with them.

I'm expecting visitors - what is required?
We understand that you might like to invite a nearby guest or two to your campsite for a meal or a few hours to share. We also understand that many of our campers came here for a quiet getaway and do not wish to be disturbed by large groups, too much noise, etc. Our facilities are also built to accommodate only so many persons and vehicles. Visitors bring with them added expense for the campground utilities, extra parking needs, security (State & Federal laws require us to keep track of who is in the park,) liability and more. With the volume of campers we see, there is no way for us to police each visitor independently on what they may or may not do while in the park. THEREFORE ALL visitors must register and pay the fees established by us, NO EXCEPTIONS. If not, there are many fine restaurants and attractions in the area to visit with them. Please contact the desk for suggestions on places to meet with your friends and family.

The rules for visitors to our registered campers are simple:

    • All of your visitors must be registered at the office, pay fee and park where they are directed (not at your campsite) with a valid car pass displayed. If you want, you may stop at the office ahead of their arrival and pay their fee for them. "But they are only staying 10 minutes!" If they leave within 30 minutes of their arrival, we will refund their visitor fee. It has been our experience that people come for 15 minutes, but can still be seen in the park 1 - 1/2 hours later. Time goes by quickly.
    • We reserve the right to restrict the number of visitors in our park at any time, and to any campsite (especially during Holiday Periods.) Do not plan a party at your campsite!
    • Visitor Hours are: 9am - 9:30pm during Summer.
    • You, the camper, are responsible for the conduct of your guests. All visitors are subject to the rules of the campground. Any violation may result in the removal of the visitor(s) and the camper, without refund.
    • Visitors may not bring their pets. Please inform them of this before they arrive.

    Are alcoholic beverages allowed?
It is allowed on your campsite only! Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated and will result in eviction without refund.

    Can we ride bicycles?
Our roads are primarily gravel and we are a hilly area. Families do ride their bicycles regularly in the campground or take them to the nearby Conewago Recreation Trail. Pennsylvania law states children under 12 must wear a helmet. No bicycle riding after dark in the park.

    Do you sell firewood?
YES! We have bundled, kiln-dried firewood that can be purchased from our store. It IS a violation of Pennsylvania State Law to transport wood across state lines and from already quarantined counties. This is a common way of transporting disease and specific ash bore insects that kill trees. Here is more information on the Emerald Ash Bore Quarantined Counties in Pennsylvania.

    Can I bring firearms?
No firearms, BB guns, sling shots, bows / arrows, paint ball weapons, pellet or other projectile firing weapons are permitted.

Wow! 4th of July! Can I bring fireworks?
PA State Law prohibits the use of Consumer & Display Fireworks in Pennsylvania without a permit. Items such as "ground and hand-held sparkling and smoky devices, novelties, and toy caps" are permitted.

Can we fish at the campground?
We have a catch & release fishing pond. You do not need a license to use it. The pond is stocked with Bass, Bluegill and Catfish. The record so far, a 34" Channel Catfish estimated at 25 lbs. We have limited bamboo poles available for rent from the store and bait, too!

Is there anywhere else to fish nearby?
The Susquehanna River is just down the road with a boat launch and public fishing access.

    When are your quiet hours?
11pm - 7am Children of all ages should be at their campsite, not roaming around. All campsite lights must be turned out when you retire along with dousing the fire. NO excessive noise allowed. Sorry, if you were expecting to party through the night, you are at the wrong campground! Tents must be up before quiet hours.

I think I've changed my mind and can't come now.

Can I bring my golf cart? ATV?
